William Strang Bank Holiday Antique Painting Postcard
zx600 Antique circa 1905 postcard of William Strang's work Bank Holliday. From about 1910 Strang painted a series of large group portraits. These were of his friends, family and models, posed in imaginary modern settings. They illustrated social relations between the sexes, and the figures were dressed in extremes of fashion. Strang invites the viewer to speculate as to what exactly is going on in this scene featured in this turn of the century postcard and official souvenir of the National Gallery Millbank London around 120 years ago unused and mint - surely the earliest postcard of this painting ever published and exhibit souvenir.
