"...Two Cats (1894) is a celebrated colour lithograph by Swiss-born French Art Nouveau artist Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen. Best known for his iconic advertisement for the Parisian bohemian cabaret Le Chat Noir, Steinlen was deeply fascinated by felines and earned the moniker "the painter of cats". This particular print was originally created as a proof before final lettering for a poster announcing an 1894 exhibition of his artwork at A La Bodinière in Paris.

The piece showcases Steinlen's mastery of the Art Nouveau style, focusing on flat fields of color, expressive line work, and bold decorative outlines.
