Debuting in 1941 within the official RAF Tee Emm training manuals, this well-meaning but utterly clueless cartoon character saved countless real-world lives by showing young pilots exactly what not to do in the cockpit. This particular card introduces Pilot Officer Prune's equally accident-prone mid-upper gunner from the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) called Sergeant Willy Winde. The illustration satirizes Allied crew dynamics by showing how Prune’s trademark incompetence was shared by a multi-national Bomber Command crew who were just as blunder-happy as their pilot.
