Born in South Shields in 1948, he is perhaps most widely recognized by television audiences for his portrayal of the meticulously loyal accountant Mr Crabb in the popular ITV period drama Mr Selfridge, as well as his roles in major series like Chernobyl, Andor, and The Salisbury Poisonings. On the big screen, his distinct screen presence has been utilized in films ranging from the cult comedy Hot Fuzz to the live-action adaptation of Thunderbirds, where he provided the voice and movement for the iconic character Parker.
