Captain Bill Willby was a British intelligence officer with the Special Operations Executive (SOE) who was parachuted into occupied Yugoslavia to coordinate vital "evasion lines" behind enemy lines. He worked closely alongside Colonel General Božidar "Boža" Lazarević, a prominent Yugoslav Partisan commander who led local forces in defending and sheltering Allied personnel. Together, their coordinated wartime efforts successfully rescued, hid, and evacuated hundreds of downed Allied aircrews from axis-controlled territory.
