CHAU4761   Antique 1951 letter of Michael Foot when he had only just began his career in politics as MP for Plymouth and this being directly from him sent on headed paper from the House Of Commons dated 14th March 1951.  Please note this is folded where posted, has another indent running down left side and has strong brown marks on reverse which show through to front - But you will never get an earlier autograph opportunity for Michael Foot and with it on headed House Of Commons paper you also have the ultimate in lifetime COA - Whilst my grading fair plus there are no tears or fraying and a real antique souvenir of this historic politician.

During the 1940s and 1950s, Michael Foot cemented his reputation as one of Britain’s most prominent left-wing journalists, a fierce anti-appeasement polemicist, and a champion of the radical socialist wing of the Labour Party. Foot won the seat of Plymouth Devonport in Labour’s historic 1945 landslide. While campaigning, he met documentary filmmaker Jill Craigie; they married in 1949. : Foot became a devoted ally and close friend of Aneurin "Nye" Bevan, the architect of the NHS. Throughout the 1950s, Foot and the Bevanites fought bitter ideological battles against the moderate faction of the Labour Party led by Hugh Gaitskell over issues like public ownership and nuclear rearmament.
