Mary Lou Rosato is an acclaimed American stage actress, director, and drama professor who was born on 1 October 1947 in Santa Monica, California. She achieved early theatrical prominence as a graduate of the historic, first-ever drama class at the Juilliard School, which directly led her to become a founding member of the prestigious touring troupe, The Acting Company. Over a stellar 50-year career, she won a Drama Desk Award for The School for Scandal, starred on Broadway in Once Upon a Mattress, and featured in notable films like the Coen brothers' The Hudsucker Proxy. Highly respected within academic circles, she later returned to her home state to serve as the Co-Head of the BFA Acting program at CalArts for eighteen years. Today, her autograph remains a rare and highly sought-after piece of memorabilia for dedicated collectors of classical American theatre history.
