Lorcan Cranitch initially achieved widespread recognition for his chilling and definitive portrayal of the troubled Detective Sergeant Jimmy Beck in the landmark 1990s crime drama Cracker. He followed this iconic breakthrough with another memorable, specially written recurring role as Sean Dillon in the BBC's Ballykissangel, and went on to anchor numerous flagship dramas, including McCready and Daughter, Rome, Hornblower, Spooks, and The Last Kingdom. In recent years, his television career has seen a massive resurgence with lead and recurring roles as Detective Chief Superintendent Jackie Twomey in the police thriller Bloodlands, Sir Magnus Pye in Magpie Murders, Inspector Howlett in Bad Sisters, and Harry Bradley in Blue Lights.
