Libreria Acqua Alta Venice Italy Italian Book Shop Courtyard Antique Books Postcard
ABIZTIMYBS01x This is a stunning specialist collectors modern origin real photo postcard of the historic Libreria Acqua Alta showing its amazing courtyard (see below) from when published unused and mint.
Shown is the shop's famous outdoor courtyard, where hundreds of vintage textbooks, massive encyclopedias, and antique dictionaries sit stacked directly onto the floor and steps. Because these heavy volumes were permanently ruined by past acqua alta floods, they are creatively repurposed into an interactive art installation that lies completely open to the elements. The weathered pages now form a literal staircase, inviting visitors to climb up for a view of the adjacent Venetian canal.
