CHAU5059  A vintage 7" x 5" undated but appears circa 40 years ago origin from the "Derek & Pat East" Collection (see below) of this historic 1950s Polish film of Korhinta (1955) which launched the career of Mari Torocsik that went on to become one of Hungary's most famous actresses, with the official "Derek & Pat East" archives frank on reverse for full authenticity (see image 2) in mint condition.

The Derek and Pat East Collection is a famous, massive private archive of vintage film memorabilia and cinema history amassed over several decades. It is highly regarded by historians and collectors for its immaculate quality and broad coverage of the golden age of cinema.

Zoltán Fábri’s 1955 masterpiece Körhinta (Merry-Go-Round) stands as one of the most historic milestones in Hungarian cinema, famously breaking through post-WWII ideological constraints to celebrate individual freedom and raw human emotion. The film gained immense international prestige by competing for the Palme d'Or at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival, where its dizzying, visually ecstatic merry-go-round sequence forever revolutionized cinematic editing and camera movement. It also served as the legendary screen debut for 20-year-old Mari Törőcsik, whose luminous, deeply expressive performance as the defiant young Mari instantly captivated global audiences. This breakthrough role launched Törőcsik into stardom, paving the way for her to become Hungary’s most celebrated actress of the 20th century and a definitive icon of European arthouse cinema.
