Kemlo Stephen Scottish BBC WW2 Orchestra Conductor Hand Signed Letter

CHAU4775 A rare opportunity to secure the autograph of famous BBC Scottish conductor and musician Kemlo Stephen on this antique 1947 letter specially typed sent on headed BBC paper with fascinating content which I invite you to enlarge and read.  It is personally written typed and hand signed by Kemlo Stephen and bar one light fold where originally posted is absolutely mint condition. "...Kemlo Stephen (1895–1954) was conductor of the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra from 1945 until his death in 1954. In 1919 he joined the Scottish Orchestra as a timpanist when Sir Landon Ronald was conductor, and served in the orchestra every season except one until 1934. During this period he conducted various amateur opera clubs, and the Edinburgh Amateur Orchestra. Stephen was in the first orchestra brought together by the BBC when the Glasgow station 5SC was opened in 1923. He played as timpanist in that orchestra. He joined the staff of the BBC in November 1935 as assistant to Ian Whyte when the BBC Scottish Orchestra was formed. The BBC staff magazine, Ariel, said he "was at one time a keen cyclist and can swim like a fish"!  In August 1945 it was announced that Stephen was to become conductor of the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra...."
