German 1980s Factory Wall Worker Socialist Worker Abuse Award Photo Postcard

News12 This is a totally unique undated but appears 35 years ago origin postcard by an award winning photographer Gundulz Schulze of a 1980s factory worker in Germany trying to move a wall which is of course impossible. . It captures the gritty, surreal atmosphere of the socialist workplace and has often been distributed globally as a highly sought-after historic art postcard. It was sourced by a collector of some of the most historic news & unique photographic art works in history (see his other collection being sold at my store which he sourced from all over the world) which this particular postcard appears to originate from Germany and is unused and mint (same as new)

According to the state ideology, in the DDR workers had to be portrayed as proud, self-confident heroes. After all, they were the ones who laid the foundation for the new communist society. Gundula Schulze Eldowy wanted to nuance this image. She photographed workers in situations where they were really performing work. In practice, this often meant having to carry out labour in the midst of dust and dirt, with insufficient light. Uncomfortable positions, sometimes alongside heavy machinery, were by no means an exception. Despite the often brutal working conditions, the workers appear unbroken. Their exhausted appearance reveals a resolve to maintain human dignity.
