Francis Ernest Jackson ARA was born in Huddersfield in 1872. After completing an apprenticeship with a firm of Lithographers in Leeds he studied in Paris at the Academie Julian and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
From 1921-39 he was Instructor in Drawing at the RA Schools. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1944.
