Dan Daniel Conroy Sherry WW1 WW2 Comedian Hand Signed Photo

PFAS194A This is an antique 3.5" x 3" hand signed photo for 1920s to 1940s comedian Dan Sherry who has personally autographed the souvenir where his signature rests perfectly accompanying his portrait dated 1944 and in outstanding condition. This signing was wartime as Dan entertained troops which was when this clearly obtained.

Dan in about 1917 started as a solo artiste, acting, singing, dancing and playing the piano.  He appears to have performed in what were in reality concert parties, one being known as Fred Clements Arcadia Entertainers.  He was also a prolific writer, and wrote over a hundred compositions.

However in 1920 he teamed up with his brothers Jim (James Bernard Sherry jnr) and Harry (Henry Bradley Sherry) in an act called Dan Brothers and Sherry.  They became a well-known and established act, touring the UK, the Continent and even South Africa.

By 1926 they were touring with a show called Contrasts and in September 1928, decided to purchase the rights to the show and run it as a family, which, after a phase as New Contrasts became A Sherry Cocktail.
