Dale Robertson became a household name by starring in several major television hits during the golden age of the TV Western. He is most famous for playing the lead role of Jim Hardie, a sharp-witted special investigator for a stagecoach line, in the hit series Tales of Wells Fargo from 1957 to 1962. He followed this success by starring as railroad gambler Ben Calhoun in Iron Horse (1966–1968) and by serving as the final charismatic host of the long-running anthology series Death Valley Days from 1968 to 1970. Later in his career, Robertson transitioned to prime-time dramas, notably playing Walter Lankershim during the first season of Dynasty in 1981, appearing in Dallas, and starring as a billionaire detective in J.J. Starbuck (1987).
