Rachael Heyhoe Flint was a monumental pioneer for gender equality whose lifelong activism culminated in a historic breakthrough for the women’s rights movement in 1998 and 1999. For over two decades, she relentlessly campaigned against deep-seated institutional sexism within British sport, focusing her efforts on the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at Lord's—the historically male-only global headquarters of cricket. Her campaigning finally forced a monumental shift when, after years of her public pressure and internal lobbying, the club voted to change its 212-year-old rules and admit women as members for the first time in 1998. In March 1999, Heyhoe Flint made history alongside an elite group of female icons by officially being inducted as one of the very first honorary women members of the MCC.
