Barts Books Ojai California USA Biggest Outdoor Old Cottage Book Shop Postcard

ABIZTIMYBS03x   This is a stunning specialist collectors modern origin real photo postcard of Barts Books in Ojai California  showing its amazing interior from when published unused and mint.

Bart's Books in Ojai, California, was founded in 1964 by Richard Bartindale, a WWII veteran who wanted to recreate the charm of the open-air book carts he fell in love with along the Seine in Paris. The store grew out of the founder's own 1930s cottage, where the original kitchen still houses the cookbook collection and a massive 300-year-old oak tree famously grew right through the middle of the structure. It has since grown into the world's largest independent outdoor bookstore, still operating its exterior bargain shelves 24/7 on a historic honor system where after-hours customers simply drop coins through a slot in the door.
