Adeler and Suttons Ten Little Pierrots Brighton Clowns Old Postcard

nr03 Antique 1900s postcard of Adeler and Suttons Ten Little Pierrots who were a historic group of Brighton clowns (see history below) which this card surely dates circa 115 years ago origin and whilst some age fading is otherwise truly outstanding unused condition.

In 1899 Adeler and Sutton's Pierrots, following the success of their shows on the shore, transferred to the pier at New Brighton and created a sensation. Adler and Sutton's Pierrots on the pier provided refined entertainment with Adeler producing many future stars of the halls. In 1902 the lessees were 'The Summer Entertainments Syndicate Ltd, the programme consisted of comedy, songs and pianoforte playing.

During the next few years The Pierrots went from strength to strength, building up their reputation and creating a good impression wherever they went. In a guide issued in 1909 we read "the Pavilion is under the management of Messrs. Adeler and Sutton, who hold a unique position in the world of entertainment, in as much as they branch into nearly every seaside town and watering place in the country. The concerts given in the Pavilion are of a special type and are recognised as the nursery of the stars of the lighter side of the stage."
