Jacques Lucy Isnardon French Opera Singers Antique Postcard

NR29 Antique postcard of Jacques & Lucy Isnardon historic French opera duo a little aged otherwise outstanding condition (postally unused but message on reverse) - please note text on lower border seems slightly cropped but this appears the publisher as the card does not seem cropped and has fascinating turn of the century character, being surely one of the only postcards with the married duo featured together of its kind.

Lucy Isnardon (30 March 1879 19 March 1966) was a French opera singer and soprano. She made her debut, under her birth name, on 12 April 1908 in the role of Venus in Richard Wagner's TannhaÔøΩser. She made her debut on the stage of the OpÔøΩra-Comique on 20 April 1914, under her married name, in the role of Iphigenia in the revival of IphigÔøΩnie en Tauride on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Christoph Willibald Gluck . She sang in concert, also at the OpÔøΩra-Comique, the roles of Louise in Gustave Charpentier's Louise and Tosca in Giacomo Puccini's Tosca.

She then sang at the Paris Opera Monna Vanna in Henry FÔøΩvrier's opera of the same name in 1919 and SalomÔøΩ in Antoine Mariotte's work the same year, Nedda in Ruggero Leoncavallo's Paillasse and Rosario in Enrique Granados' Goyescas in 1920, Marguerite in Hector Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust in 1921, SalomÔøΩ in HÔøΩrodiade by Jules Massenet in 1922, Sieglinde in Die WalkÔøΩre and Eva in Wagner's Die Meistersinger von NÔøΩrnberg in 1923 . She created the role of Cassandra in the entry of Hector Berlioz's Les Troyens into the opera's repertoire under Jacques RouchÔøΩ in 1921
