".....Wouter Lambertus Martinus Henricus Poels (born 1 October 1987) is a Dutch professional road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI PRO Team Unibet Rose Rockets. Poels began his career with VacansoleilDCM from 2009 to 2013, where he established himself as a promising talent in mountainous terrain, including a retroactive stage win at the 2011 Vuelta a España on the Angliru (awarded in 2019 due to doping disqualifications), despite setbacks like a severe crash in 2012 that caused significant internal injuries.  He then joined Omega PharmaQuick-Step in 2014, followed by a successful stint with Team Sky (later Ineos Grenadiers) from 2015 to 2019, during which he contributed to multiple Grand Tour podiums as a domestique for leaders like Chris Froome and won the overall classification at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in 2016.   In 2020, he moved to BahrainMcLaren (later Bahrain Victorious), taking on leadership roles and securing personal successes including the overall win at the Vuelta a Andalucía in 2022.  
In 2025, at age 37, Poels demonstrated continued competitiveness by winning stage 4 along with the general and mountains classifications at the Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, his first overall victory in a week-long stage race since 2022.  He has participated in 25 Grand Tours overall, with notable support roles in the mountains and personal ambitions driving his career into a planned final season with Unibet Rose Rockets in 2026..."
