"...John Bath (1915–2004) was an English conductor and composer who briefly served as the conductor of the BBC West of England Light Orchestra in the late 1940s and early 1950s. His life and career were deeply intertwined with British light music, film scores, and regional broadcasting. Following the pioneering work of Reginald "Rex" Redman, John Bath was appointed to lead the BBC West of England Light Orchestra. The ensemble was popular for broadcasting melodic, picturesque regional music and light classical suites across national radio. 

John Bath was the son of Hubert Bath (1883–1945), one of the most famous and influential British film composers of the 1930s and 1940s. His father is legendary for composing the hyper-romantic Cornish Rhapsody (1944) and writing "Out of the Blue", the iconic theme song used for BBC Radio's Sports Report. John followed directly in his father's footsteps, composing light orchestral suites like Spanish Serenade and Sportsman's Luck. Beyond his brief tenure at the BBC, John Bath built a highly successful career as a musical director and composer for cinema and TV series across the 1950s and 1960s. .."
