At the time this photo was taken in 1945 standard urban arenas were heavily restricted or bombed out during the war, traveling fairs inside massive canvas tents became vital hubs for public entertainment. "Hughes of London" was a traveling boxing pavilion troupe. In these setups, professional or seasoned booth fighters would stand on an outside platform ("the line-up") and challenge local working-class men from the crowd to step into the ring. If the local amateur could last three rounds against the show's boxer, they would win a cash prize

It was sourced by a collector of some of the most historic photo manipulation art works & famous groundbreaking news award winning photographs in history (see his full collection he sourced being sold at my store) which this particular postcard was from an exhibition at the Barbican in London as a souvenir for visitors who had travelled to see the photo on display and is unused and mint.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0965/3216/9030/files/13521_62384ba0-01b5-4cd7-8027-d8d86280c76d.jpg?v=1786215238
https://postcardfinder.co.uk/products/hughes-of-london-ww2-boxing-booth-carnival-fairground-travelling-show-postcard
